چکیده

A statistical multiplexing scheme in orthogonal downlinks is proposed to accommodate more downlink orthogonal channels than orthogonal codewords for mobile stations. The number of allocable downlink orthogonal channels depends on the average burstiness of the channels. The statistical multiplexing scheme is called here as the orthogonal code hopping multiplexing (OCHM). Since the OCHM uses a pre-allocated independent hopping pattern for each mobile station (MS), the number of transactions for channel allocation and de-allocation can be smaller than the conventional downlink orthogonal multiplexing scheme. Since the number of available codewords in orthogonal code for OCHM is limited (for cdmaOne, it is 64) and the hopping patterns are mutually independent, the hopping patterns for two or more synchronous downlink channels may collide. In this case all the encoded symbols colliding in the downlink channels are not transmitted (punctured) except when all the encoded symbols are the same. The punctured (not transmitted) encoded symbols are recovered at the receiver by channel decoding.

Orthogonal Code Hopping Multiplexing for Downlink Statistical Multiplexing

For orthogonal downlink and statistical multiplexing, three modes of orthogonal code hopping multiplexing (OCHM) are proposed to accommodate more orthogonal downlink channels than orthogonal codewords for downlink channels, and they are compared. The performance comparison shows that the hybrid mode OCHM outperforms both the division mode and the hopping mode.

Adaptive code rate for orthogonal code hopping multiplexing (OCHM) in synchronous downlink

We previously proposed an Orthogonal Code Hopping Multiplexing(OCHM) scheme as a new statistical multiplexing scheme in synchronous downlink. OCHM enables a large number of users to share a limited number of code channels through statistical multiplexing. In this paper, we obtain the optimal code rate in several traffic load environments by simulation and summarize the appropriate traffic load ...

Performance comparison of orthogonal code hopping multiplexing (OCHM) and HDR schemes in synchronous downlink

We previously proposed the Orthogonal Code Hopping Multiplexing(OCHM) scheme as a new statistical multiplexing scheme in synchronous downlink and applied the OCHM scheme to IS-95 and Wideband CDMA. OCHM enables a large number of users to share the limited number of code channels through statistical multiplexing. In this paper, we compare OCHM with HDR through link-level simulation. OCHM outperf...

Future Broadband Packet Radio Access and Its Field Experiments

This paper presents a broadband packet radio access scheme based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based access in the downlink and single-carrier based access with spreading including low-rate channel coding in the uplink for the systems beyond IMT-2000. In our design concept for radio access in both links, the spreading factor including the channel coding rate is optimally ...
